Portable applications and creative uses for USB drives and other external hard drives have come a long way in the last year or so. Today I’ll go over some of the more practical uses and techniques for managing your data on the go with a portable drive.

The 3D desktop prototype for Windows, called BumpTop, emulates real world document behavior.
It creates the image of multiple paper documents and then gives you the ability to sort, stack, separate, act on and other actions as if they were physical pieces of paper.
You can pile up documents, throw them around, and so on.
Here’s the thing: once you start riffling through your files, are you going to realize that 99% of it is junk?
